The Drums are set to release their latest album “Jonny” next month, and fans have been given a final preview of the album with the release of “The Flowers”.
The song is in line with the theme of the previously released singles and reflects on Jonny Pierce’s past experiences. The lyrics of the song are melancholic, but the music itself is uplifting, with the signature alt-pop sound that fans of The Drums have come to love.
The track features catchy guitar riffs and drum machines, creating a feel-good vibe. Pierce explained that “The Flowers” is about how slowing down and being tender saved his life, helped him develop confidence, and enabled him to love others in a meaningful way. This allowed him to love from a place of calm and gentleness rather than desperation.
The Drums is an indie pop band from New York City, USA. The band was originally formed by Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham, under the name of Goat Explosion. Later, Adam Kessler and Connor Hanwick joined the band. However, in 2016, Graham left the band and since then, Jonathan Pierce has been the sole remaining member. Therefore, The Drums is now operating as a solo project of Pierce.
