Tom Odell’s “Black Friday” Download MP3
Tom Odell, A British singer-songwriter, released a new single titled “Black Friday” on September 22, 2023.
This is his third single in 2023, following “Streets Of Heaven,” which was released last month from his 2021 album “monsters,” and “Butterflies,” which was a collaborative song with Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA and was released in January.
The track was written by Tom Odell, Laurie Blundell, and Max Clilverd and produced by Tom Odell and Cityfall. Lucca Lutzky directed the accompanying music video. In the song, Tom Odell compares his appearance to that of his girlfriend’s friend, singing, “I wanna better body, I want better skin, I wanna be perfect like all your other friends.”
Despite the self-deprecating tone of the song, it is a love song inspired by Tom’s admiration and love for the people in his life, as well as his tendency to be unkind to himself. He said, “I wrote this song on my birthday last year, which happened to be the day before ‘Black Friday.’ I’m very proud of it, and I hope people like it.”
Tom Odell’s previous single, “Streets Of Heaven,” is about a school shooting in America. The song is written from the perspective of someone killed in the shooting, and Tom tries to empathize and imagine what it must be like. He said, “Obviously it’s an incredibly delicate subject of which I have no experience, but I try to remain nonjudgmental and empathize. As an artist, I always have the right to empathize and observe.”
