METZ‘s “Up on Gravity Hill” Album Download ZIP MP3 Files
Metz, a punk band based in Toronto, has announced the release of their fifth album, “Up On Gravity Hill”, which is set to be out on April 12 via Sub Pop. They are also releasing two singles, “Entwined (Street Light Buzz)” and “99”, to accompany the album announcement.
According to the band’s frontman, Alex Edkins, “Up On Gravity Hill” is the biggest sonic leap they’ve ever made. The album features guest vocalists and string arrangements, which they have never done before. Breaking down preconceived limitations and leaving them in the rearview, the album is full of firsts for the band.
Regarding the two new singles, Edkins explains that they have different styles and themes. “Entwined (Street Light Buzz)” is a song about the strong connection humans can build with each other and how we carry people with us forever, even after they have passed away. On the other hand, “99” is about the negative impact of corporate greed and bottom-line thinking on modern society. The song’s message is that anything is done for the sake of profit at the expense of the younger generations.

About METZ
METZ is a punk rock band from Canada that was formed in Ottawa in 2007. The band is currently based in Toronto and consists of three members: Alex Edkins on guitar and vocals, Chris Slorach on bass, and Hayden Menzies on drums. In an interview with The Cosmic Clash, a zine from Austin, Texas, Edkins described METZ’s style as “punk rock at the core.”
After spending a year working on material, Edkins and Menzies moved to Toronto and expanded their duo to a trio with the addition of bassist Chris Slorach. In 2012, METZ released their self-titled debut album on the Sub Pop label. The album was long-listed for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize, and the band performed a “homecoming show” at Lee’s Palace in Toronto that year.
In 2015, the band released their second album, II, with the first track “Acetate” accompanied by a music video. The album was released on May 5, 2015, in North America and the day before elsewhere. II was also a long-listed nominee for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize.
In 2017, METZ announced their third studio album, Strange Peace, which was recorded by Steve Albini and released on September 22, 2017. Hayden Menzies, the band’s drummer, has a degree in fine art from Concordia University and designs the artwork for the band.
In July 2020, METZ announced the release of their fourth studio album, Atlas Vending, which was released on October 9 via Sub Pop.
