About Khalid
Khalid Donnel Robinson (pronounced kə-LID) is an American singer and songwriter, born on February 11, 1998, in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Due to his mother Linda Wolfe and her father’s military careers, he spent his childhood in various locations, including Kentucky, New York, and Germany. In high school, Robinson studied singing and musical theater, attending Carthage Central High School in New York for his first three years of high school before moving to El Paso, Texas, where he finished his senior year at Americas High School.
Robinson signed with Courtney Stewart’s Right Hand Music Group, an imprint of RCA Records, and released his debut single “Location” in 2016. The song reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and was followed by “Young Dumb & Broke” in 2017, which also peaked in the top 20. Both songs received diamond certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Robinson’s debut studio album, American Teen, was released in 2017 and received quadruple platinum certification by the RIAA. It was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
