Carlos St. John Phillips, born on August 26, 1986, is professionally known as SAINt JHN. He is a Guyanese-American rapper and singer best known for the 2019 remix of his 2016 song “Roses”. The remix, produced by Kazakh DJ Imanbek, reached the top 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This song became the lead single for SAINt JHN’s third studio album, “While the World Was Burning,” which was released on November 20, 2020. Before that, he released his debut album “Collection One” (2018), and its follow-up, “Ghetto Lenny’s Love Songs” (2019) through L.A. Reid’s label Hitco.
SAINt JHN has also written songs for various artists including Kanye West, Jidenna, Usher, Hoodie Allen, and Kiesza. He is a founding member of the music collective Gødd Complexx. SAINt JHN has recently released a new single “Humble,” which was produced by f a l l e n, Kurtis Wells & Kurtis McKenzie.
In his music, SAINt JHN has expressed his challenging upbringing, depicting how he grew up in poverty, was sent back to Guyana to his neglectful father, and eventually moved in with his aunt with support from his mother.
