Katy Perry has announced the release of her new single “Lifetimes,” which will be released on August 9 along with its music video. The pop singer shared the cover art for the single, featuring Perry holding a futuristic heart. She has been teasing the single on social media over the past week, using clips with the song as the soundtrack.
“Lifetimes” comes after the release of “Woman’s World,” the first single from her upcoming sixth album “143.” This release faced some criticism, with the song debuting at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 65 on the Global 200. This reaction was in part due to the involvement of Dr. Luke, Perry‘s former collaborator who was accused of sexual misconduct by Kesha.
Although the tracklist for “143” hasn’t been revealed yet, the album is set to be released on September 20. During a live stream on Instagram and TikTok, Perry teased a few songs and features, including “I’m His He’s Mine” featuring Doechii, “Gimme Gimme” featuring 21 Savage, and “Nirvana.”
It has been almost four years since Perry‘s last album “Smile,” which was released in August 2020. This project included singles like “Daisies” and the title track but was her lowest-performing album in years, debuting at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
