“Start” is the first track from Asake‘s upsoming album “Lungu Boy.” The album was produced by Magicsticks and it’s set to drop this week. Afrobeat fans are anxiously waiting for the drop of the album.

Ahmed Ololade known professionally as Asake, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is signed to YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution. His stage name “Asake” is his mother’s name. For the third consecutive year, Asake is releasing a new album. The Nigerian afrobeats star took to his social media pages to announce his third album Lungu Boy. The project is the highly-anticipated follow to his beloved first two albums, Mr. Money With The Vibe and Work Of Art. The announcement confirmed that the album will arrive on August 9 along with 15 songs and features from Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla.

Asake’s rollout for Lungu Boy has been a bit quieter compared to other albums, but there’s plenty to be excited about going forward. “Wave” with Central Cee, the album’s lead single, has upheld the excitement for the project while a tour after the project’s release is sure to make the album the talk of afrobeats for some time. Asake announced the Lungu Boy World Tour back in June and it’s set to kick off on August 16 in Washington, DC and conclude on October 6 in Australia.

About Artist:

Ahmed Ololade, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, was born on January 13, 1995, and goes as Asake professionally. He has contracts with Empire Distribution and YBNL Nation. “Asake” is the stage name he goes by, honoring his mother.

His debut album, Mr. Money with the Vibe, was released in September 2022, shattering the previous record for the largest opening day for an African album on Apple Music. The album became the highest ranking debut album from Nigeria in the history of the chart when it debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 list. In June 2023, he released his sophomore album, Work of Art, which debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200.

Asake had his first international award nomination in 2020 when he was nominated for Best African Music Act at the 2022 MOBO Awards, after winning Break Out Artist of the Year at the 2022 All Africa Music Awards. In addition, he was ranked number five on Rolling Stone Music’s Future 25, and in 2023 he was nominated for Best New International Act at the BET Awards.
