Rapper Tay B emanates a casual attitude that contrasts with his sharp lyrics and comfort with confrontation. Hailing from Detroit, he first gained local attention and airplay in 2017 with “Back 2 Back.” This relatively aggressive track effectively kick-started his career, leading to collaborations with artists such as Payroll Giovanni, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, as well as a label deal with Giant Music. In addition to releasing several singles, Tay B has put out several EPs and full-length projects, including AFLN (2017), 20/20 Vision (2020), and 4eva in My Bag (2022).
Tay B, whose real name is Diamante Mateo Warren, began recording music at the age of 12 and initially used MySpace as his platform to establish himself. It was in 2017 that he gained significant traction with “Back 2 Back,” which he uploaded to SoundCloud and released commercially through his AFLN label. AFLN was also the title of his first mixtape, which was released towards the end of the year and featured guest verses from artists like Sada Baby and FMB DZ. Subsequent projects such as AFNC, Pioneer, and LL Cool Tay followed in 2018, with 20/20 Vision, featuring “That Type of Time,” arriving in 2020. Despite a brief deal with major label Columbia in the following year, Tay’s career continued to flourish independently with the release of “Rich All My Life,” a track featuring Lil Baby. In 2022, Tay released 4eva in My Bag, which included contributions from Babyface Ray and Kash Doll. He later entered a joint deal with Giant Music and released a deluxe edition of 4eva in My Bag in the subsequent year, adding “Ask,” featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
Tay B recently collaborated with Grammy-winning artist Lil Baby on the track “All TEN,” producing a groundbreaking masterpiece.
