Bill Kahan Kapri, also known as Kodak Black, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame with his 2014 songs “No Flockin” and “Skrt,” which led to a recording contract with Atlantic Records. “No Flockin” received double platinum certification by the RIAA and “Skrt” received platinum certification. “No Flockin” also became his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 two years later.
In 2017, his single “Tunnel Vision” reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100, preceding the release of his debut studio album “Painting Pictures,” which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart. His commercial mixtape “Project Baby 2” was released the same year, peaking at number two on the chart and featuring the triple platinum-certified single “Roll in Peace” with XXXTentacion.
His second album, “Dying to Live” (2018), achieved commercial success by peaking atop the Billboard 200 and spawning the single “Zeze” featuring Travis Scott and Offset. “Zeze” peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, received sextuple platinum certification by the RIAA, and remains his highest-charting song.

His 2014 singles “No Flockin” and “Skrt” brought him initial attention, which prompted him to acquire a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Two years later, “No Flockin” became his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a sleeper success. The former was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA), while the latter was certified platinum.

Throughout his career, Kodak Black has experienced times of widespread popularity in addition to legal troubles and public controversy. His legal issues started in middle school and became increasingly significant in the latter part of the 2010s. In South Carolina, Black was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct after being accused of rape in 2016. In 2021, he accepted a plea deal for the less serious charge of assault and battery, and he received a probationary term. Black was detained in 2019 after making fraudulent claims to be in possession of a firearm. He received a sentence of almost four years in federal prison, but President Donald Trump commuted it in 2021.
His third album, Bill Israel (2020), was released while he was jailed and received less commercial support. His 2021 single “Super Gremlin” experienced a comeback in the charts, peaking at number three. It was part of the fourth album, Back for Everything (2022). In 2023, he published Pistolz & Pearlz, his fifth album, and When I Was Dead, his sixth album.
