Fat Dog is an English band consisting of Joe Love, Chris Hughes, Morgan Wallace, and Johnny ‘Doghead’ Hutch. The band was formed in 2020 in South East London during the COVID-19 lockdowns. They gained recognition for their energetic live performances and were described as “2023’s wildest live band” by Gary Ryan of NME. In 2023, they signed to Domino Recording Company and opened for bands such as Viagra Boys and Yard Act. Their debut headline tour included a sold-out show at Scala. They were also named part of DIY Magazine’s “Class of 2024” and performed at its launch show that year.
Fat Dog‘s first single, “King of the Slugs,” was released in August 2023. The seven-minute track, combining punk and techno music, was co-produced by Love and James Ford and accompanied by a music video directed by Dylan Coates. The song was listed at number 33 on NME’s best 50 songs of 2023. They followed up with the single “All The Same” in January 2024, accompanied by a music video featuring Neil Bell. A remixed version of “All The Same” by Mandy, Indiana, was released the following month.
The band has announced its debut album titled “WOOF,” which is set to be released in September via Domino. The album is produced by Fat Dog leader Joe Love, James Ford, and Jimmy Robertson. It includes singles “All The Same” and “King Of The Slugs.” The band is set to embark on their first North American tour starting in October, with stops in Toronto, Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
