Marcellus Rayvon Register, also known as Babyface Ray, is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. He became part of Team Eastside in 2010 alongside fellow Detroit rapper Peezy. Babyface Ray gained momentum with the release of his debut mixtape “MIA Season” in 2015. In 2017, he released “Ghetto Wave,” followed by “MIA Season 2” in 2019, which included his first viral song “move to la.” In February 2021, he dropped his first EP “Unfuckwitable,” featuring EST Gee, Moneybagg Yo, and Kash Doll. The EP debuted at number 128 on the Billboard 200 in February 2021.
In August 2021, Babyface Ray released his single “It Ain’t My Fault” featuring rapper Big Sean. In January 2022, he released his debut album “Face,” featuring collaborations with Swedish rapper Yung Lean, G Herbo, 42 Dugg, Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa, and Landstrip Chip. The album peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Independent Albums chart.
He was also part of the 2022 XXL Freshman class and participated in the subsequent cypher alongside rappers BabyTron, Cochise, and Kali. Babyface Ray is set to release his new album, “The Kid That Did,” on Friday, September 13th. The album includes a final single, “Wavy Navy University,” featuring fellow Detroit native Veeze. The album also includes collaborations with Rich Paul, G-Herbo, Hunxho, Boosman Dlow, DJ ESCO, King Hendricks, Doughboy Clay, Peezy, Moxie Knox, Rexx Life Raj, and Samuel Shabazz.
