Lunar Vacation is an American indie rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. The band consists of Gep Repasky on vocals and guitar, Maggie Geeslin on guitar, Matteo DeLurgio on keyboard and various percussion, Connor Dowd on drums, and Ben Wulkan on bass.
Lunar Vacation was formed in 2016 while the members were in high school. A teacher suggested that Gep and Maggie should start a band, and after jamming with John Michael Young and Connor Dowd, they recruited them. In 2017, after their first keyboard player left, they enlisted Matteo DeLurgio. Their first EP, titled “Swell,” was released in 2017, followed by their second EP, “Artificial Flavors,” in 2018.
In 2019, John Michael Young left the band to pursue a solo career. In 2021, the band released their debut full-length album, “Inside Every Fig Is A Dead Wasp,” through Keeled Scales, which was produced by Daniel Gleason of Grouplove.
In June 2024, the band announced their sophomore album, “Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire,” and released the first single “Set the Stage.” The album is due out on Sept. 13th on Keeled Scales and was produced by Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, Toro y Moi, Of Montreal). According to the band, “Set the Stage” promises a heavier, shoegazy sound than their 2021 debut.
The single “Set the Stage” is a love song written by singer/guitarist Gep Repasky. The band’s video for the single was directed by actor/musician Finn Wolfhard. Wolfhard was inspired by the song’s thick wall of droning guitars contrasting Repasky’s vocals when finding the tone for the video. The band will also play a handful of solo shows this fall in between touring stints with Vacations in July and Manchester Orchestra in November.
