Rod Wave, the Rap/R&B artist, has announced his highly anticipated new project LAST LAP, which is set for release on October 11th via Alamo Records. The project includes a brand-new single and video, “Fall Fast In Love,” which follows his previous track “Passport Junkie.” This marks Rod Wave’s return to new music following his platinum-certified album Nostalgia in 2023. The single “Passport Junkie” debuted at #61 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Rod his 71st entry on the chart.
Additionally, Rod Wave will embark on the Last Lap Tour with Moneybagg Yo and Toosii, starting on October 19 in Phoenix and concluding on December 18 in Ft. Lauderdale.
Rod Wave’s last three consecutive albums debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and if LAST LAP achieves the same feat, it will mark his fourth consecutive chart-topping album.
The upcoming album’s second single, “Fall Fast in Love,” explores the theme of falling quickly for a romantic interest. Along with its accompanying visual, the song delves into the stages of a relationship, from the puppy-love phase in elementary school to navigating life’s challenges in adulthood.
Rod Wave’s previous album, Nostalgia, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 with 137,000 total album-equivalent units sold in the first week. All 18 tracks from the album also made the Billboard Hot 100.
Rodarius Marcell Green, also known as Rod Wave, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter signed to Alamo Records. He is known for blending hip hop and R&B, creating a genre known as “trap-soul.” Rod Wave gained fame with his 2019 single “Heart on Ice,” which went viral on TikTok and peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album, “Ghetto Gospel” (2019), peaked at number ten on the US Billboard 200. His second album, “Pray 4 Love” (2020), peaked at number two on the chart and included the song “Rags2Riches” featuring Lil Baby, which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
His third full-length studio album, “SoulFly” (2021), became his first album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and featured the popular singles “Street Runner” and “Tombstone.” His fourth album, “Beautiful Mind” (2022), also debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, making it his second consecutive number one album on the chart.
