070 Shake has announced her eagerly anticipated return with a new album titled Petrichor, set to be released on November 15th through Def Jam. Accompanying this announcement is the release of her latest single, “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues,” which features a music video directed by Bennett Watanabe and stars Shake alongside her partner, Lily-Rose Depp.
The single offers a blend of classic doo-wop in its first half, transitioning into a modern, atmospheric rock sound. The catchy chorus expresses themes of nostalgia and comfort, with lines reflecting on personal experiences. The music video, inspired by Wong Kar Wai, captures Lily-Rose as she dances at a nearly empty bar and performs on stage while Shake looks on.
Petrichor promises to deliver more of Shake‘s genre-defying approach, showcasing her signature style as well as a deep exploration of desire. The album’s title, which refers to the distinctive scent of rain on dry earth, perfectly encapsulates the mood of the music. Shake describes this body of work as a feeling, further elaborating that it includes a unique mix of acoustic guitars, intricate piano melodies, ominous synths, and various rhythms.
In addition to Shake’s contributions, Petrichor will feature collaborations with notable artists such as Courtney Love on “Song To The Siren,” JT on “Into Your Garden,” and Cam on “Never Let Us Fade.”
Having previously released her debut album “Modus Vivendi” in 2020 and “You Can’t Kill Me” in 2022, Shake has continued to build her reputation as a compelling artist. In 2023, she gained further recognition with her contribution to RAYE’s hit single “Escapism,” which achieved remarkable success, topping the UK Singles Chart and performing well in the US market, including achieving double platinum status.
