About Artist:

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, was born on July 16, 1990, in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. He is a prominent Nigerian singer and songwriter recognized for his significant contributions to the Afrobeats movement. Wizkid began his music career at the young age of 11, initially recording with a group called the Glorious Five, which he formed with friends from his church. In 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E), and his breakthrough came with the release of “Holla at Your Boy,” the lead single from his debut album, “Superstar”, released in 2011. This album also featured popular tracks like “Tease Me/Bad Guys” and “Don’t Dull.”

In September 2014, he released his second studio album, Ayo”, which included the hit single “Jaiye Jaiye.” After his contract with E.M.E. ended, Wizkid achieved international acclaim in 2016 through his collaboration with Drake on the chart-topping single “One Dance,” which hit number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in 14 other countries. This success earned him a place in the Guinness World Records as the first Afrobeats artist to achieve such recognition. Wizkid continued to expand his career by signing a multi-album deal with RCA Records in March 2017 and released his third studio album, “Sounds from the Other Side”, later that year, featuring singles like “Come Closer,” featuring Drake.
