About Artist:

Cordae Amari Brooks, born on August 26, 1997, is an American rapper and singer-songwriter known as Cordae. He initially gained recognition as a member of the hip-hop collective YBN. His debut studio album, “The Lost Boy”, released in 2019, received critical acclaim, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. The album’s single “Bad Idea,” featuring Chance the Rapper, was also nominated for Best Rap Song at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

After the disbandment of YBN, Cordae dropped the “YBN” from his name in 2020. His sophomore album, “From a Birds Eye View”, released in 2022, matched the chart success of his debut and received similar critical praise. Before his success, he released three mixtapes as a teenager under the name Entendre: “Anxiety” (2014), “I’m So Anxious” (2016), and “I’m So Anonymous” (2017).

Cordae‘s commitment to his rap career intensified in early 2018 when he connected with fellow YBN members YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty Jay after they discovered his music online. Unlike the others, he wasn’t introduced through video games but felt a strong bond with the group. This camaraderie prompted him to change his stage name to YBN Cordae, emphasizing his desire to adopt his actual first name and solidify his identity within the collective.
