38 Spesh was born on December 29, 1984, in Rochester, New York. He began rapping in the early 2000s and derived his stage name from the .38 Special. In 2008, he started making appearances on Sirius XM show Invasion Radio hosted by DJ Green Lantern and was featured in XXL for his music in 2009.
After gaining recognition, 38 Spesh spent two years incarcerated and was paroled to Atlanta, Georgia, where he pursued a full-time music career. Upon his release, he released several mixtapes and albums with artists affiliated with his Trust Comes First Music group. Recognized for his unique rapping voice and strong punchlines, Spesh has announced that his forthcoming project “Mother & Gun” will be released on 8.16.24. He has already released the project’s first single, “Speshal Methods,” featuring Method Man and Ti-Lar Bee.
Excited about working with Method Man, 38 Spesh stated, “I found out Meth was a fan of my music when he mentioned my name in an interview, and so I immediately reached out to him to collaborate.” The album, “Mother & Gun,” reflects 38 Spesh’s evolution as an artist and producer, showcasing his blend of gritty storytelling and sharp lyricism, reflecting his experiences and the realities of life in upstate NY. The album also features appearances and production from Method Man, Havoc, Benny The Butcher, Lloyd Banks, StreetRunner, Che Noir, and Jimmy Dukes.
