Laila!, the talented viral sensation from Brooklyn and daughter of Yasiin Bey, just released the official video for her single “Not My Problem.” This comes after the Cash Cobain posse cut remix featuring 14 rappers and the announcement of her debut album “Gap Year!”, which is set to be released on September 6.
The video, directed by Otmara Marrero, depicts Laila and her friends catching her boyfriend cheating. After returning home in disbelief, she comes across an infomercial for the “Not My Problem Hotline.” The video blends vibes of call centers, power suits, and ’90s late-night cable commercials, providing an entertaining visual for a song with an infectious chorus. Laila writes, sings, raps, and produces all her music and aspires to create beats for her favorite artists in the future.
Laila! has had a busy year, with her song “Like That!” going viral on TikTok and reaching No. 3 on the Billboard TikTok Top 50 chart. “Not My Problem” peaked at No. 16 on that chart and also made its way onto the Hot R&B Songs chart, peaking at No. 25.
In February, the Brooklyn singer released a four-song EP titled “In Ctrl!” It’s safe to say that Laila!‘s career is on the rise, so keep an eye on her as she continues to shine.
