Terry Sanchez Wallace Jr. (born March 23, 1994), known professionally as Tee Grizzley, is an American rapper. He started posting music online in 2011. After serving a two-year prison sentence, he released the song “First Day Out” in 2017. The song quickly went viral, gaining two million views on YouTube in under three weeks, due to a social media challenge initiated by basketball player LeBron James. As a result, the song peaked within the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and led to his signing with 300 Entertainment. His debut mixtape, “My Moment,” was released in 2017, followed by the single “From the D to the A” (featuring Lil Yachty), which received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He then released a collaborative mixtape with Lil Durk, titled “Bloodas,” in 2018, and his debut studio album, “Activated,” in the same year.
Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley has collaborated with J. Cole for a new song called “Blow For Blow.” This marks the first collaboration between the two rappers. The song features a harsh and twinkly beat produced by Pi’erre Bourne and is currently just outside the Top 20 on the Genius Top Songs chart.
In the song, J. Cole emphasizes that he doesn’t need flashy outfits to grab attention and boasts about his recent successful features on tracks by A$AP Rocky and Daylyt. He also makes references to K-pop acts and humorously connects his own name to LL COOL J, the stage name of James Todd Smith. Tee Grizzley, in his verse, asks his haters to consider the challenges he has faced, growing up around drugs and violence but still managing to attend Michigan State. After serving time for armed robbery, he gained attention with his viral debut single “First Day Out” shortly after his release in 2016.
