About Astrid S

Astrid Smeplass, known professionally as Astrid S, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She gained recognition after placing fifth in the Norwegian version of Pop Idol in 2013. She released her debut studio album, “Leave It Beautiful,” in 2020 under Universal Music.

Born in the village of Berkåk, Astrid started playing piano at home and flute in her school’s marching band. However, she later learned guitar and began writing her own songs, drawing inspiration from John Mayer.

At the age of 16, Astrid released her first single, “Shattered,” which was co-written by American singer-songwriter Melanie Fontana. She then signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV Music Publishing. Her first single under her new artist image, “2AM,” was released through Universal Music in 2014. In 2016, she released the song “Hurts So Good,” which was included in her debut self-titled extended play, “Astrid S.” Additionally, she provided backing vocals on “Hey Hey Hey” by American singer Katy Perry from her album “Witness” in 2017.
