Bear’s Den is a British alternative country and indie folk band from London. The band was formed in 2012 and consists of Andrew Davie (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, guitar). Joey Haynes (vocals, banjo, guitar) left in early 2016 and was replaced by Dutch artist Christof van der Ven as a session musician.

The band has released five studio albums: Islands (2014), Red Earth & Pouring Rain (2016), So That You Might Hear Me (2019), Fragments (2020), and Blue Hours (2022). Their debut album, Islands, peaked at number 49 on the UK Albums Chart. In addition to their albums, Bear’s Den has also issued seven EPs and numerous singles. The band has received several music award nominations, including a nomination for the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2015 for “Above the Clouds of Pompeii” and two nominations at the UK Americana Awards in 2016.

Bear’s Den has announced a special 10th-anniversary edition reissue of their debut album, “Islands,” to be released on October 18, 2024. To commemorate the anniversary, the band has collaborated with Dermot Kennedy to create an acoustic reworking of ‘Above the Clouds of Pompeii’. The 10th-anniversary edition of “Islands” will be available in various formats, including exclusive color vinyl, limited edition double disc CD and vinyl with a disc of B-sides and rarities, and a box set for collectors. The box set includes the double disc vinyl, a photobook, and a 4-inch vinyl record. All copies bought from the band’s store will come with a signed print.

Lead singer and guitarist Andrew Davie shared that the song ‘Above the Clouds of Pompeii’ was inspired by a trip he took with his dad to Pompeii during a difficult time in their lives. He also expressed his excitement about Dermot Kennedy’s involvement in the project, stating that hearing Kennedy’s interpretation of the song is a powerful and mind-blowing experience for the band.
