Since they dropped their 1981 demo “Blitzkrieg/Buried Alive,” BLITZKRIEG has been a major force in Classic British Metal. They’ve influenced countless heavy metal bands over the years, including Metallica, who even covered the band’s song “Blitzkrieg” on their “Garage Inc” album and as a B-side on their 1984 “Creeping Death” single.

BLITZKRIEG started in Leicester in late 1980 with Brian Ross as the lead singer, a role he still holds today. The band took a break for four years when Ross joined the famous NWOBHM band Satan to work on their album “Court In The Act” and tour extensively. Afterward, Ross reunited with bassist Mick Moore to form Avenger.

In 1985, Blitzkrieg released their highly anticipated debut album “A Time Of Changes” through “Neat Records,” which has since become a cult classic. They continued to become more famous and successful with their 1991 album “Ten Years Of Blitzkrieg” and a three-album deal with Neat Records in 1995.

The band kept the Classic Metal spirit alive through the 2000s with albums like “Absolute Power” in 2002 and “Theatre Of The Damned” in 2007, the latter of which was co-produced by Saxon’s Biff Byford after Blitzkrieg supported Saxon on tour. They have toured across four continents and have also been featured at major international festivals like “Wacken” and “Headbangers Open Air.”

After taking a break following their well-received albums “Back From Hell” and “Judge Not,” Blitzkrieg is back and stronger than ever. The lineup now includes Alan Ross (Brian’s son), drummer Matt Graham, bassist Liam Ferguson, and guitarist/producer Nick Jennison. Their new album, simply titled “Blitzkrieg,” is set to drop in summer 2024 through Mighty Music. “Blitzkrieg” will be available on CD, LP (with black, green, and red vinyl options, each limited to 200 copies), and digital formats on September 6, 2024.

About Artist:

Blitzkrieg is a heavy metal band from England that started in Leicester in 1980. The band now includes Brian Ross on vocals, Alan Ross on guitar, Liam Ferguson on bass, Matt Graham on drums, and Nick Jennison on guitar. Brian Ross is the only original member still in the band, and they’re now based in Newcastle.

In 1980, Brian Ross joined a Leicester band called Split Image, with Jim Sirotto and Ian Jones on guitar, Steve English on bass, and Steve Abbey on drums. They changed their name to Blitzkrieg, and their demo got them a record deal with Neat Records in October 1980. Neat Records was well-known for signing bands from the new wave of British heavy metal. After they released a single in 1981, Jones and English were replaced by John Antcliffe and Mick Moore. Blitzkrieg played many gigs in England initially, but they split up in 1981 before finishing their debut album. After the split, Brian Ross joined the band Satan and also played with Avenger, Lone Wolf, and Unter den Linden.
