The Grammy-nominated duo BONES UK has launched “BIKINIS” and revealed their second album, SOFT, which will be released on September 13 via Sumerian Records. The album features collaborations with Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins and Mike Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age.

Alternative Press exclusively premiered the video for the opening track, which perfectly captures the album’s smooth grooves, sensual vocals, and evocative guitars that frame catchy choruses. The new single, “BIKINIS,” celebrates individuality and self-love while encouraging people to embrace their unique qualities, regardless of their shape or size. Vocalist/guitarist Rosie Bones described the song’s powerful message as conveying that every person is “FAN-f*cking-tabulous just as they are.”

SOFT follows the enormous success of BONES UK’s 2019 self-titled debut. The duo returns with an anthemic, visceral approach to their future-rock fusion of bold guitars, gritty electronics, and thought-provoking lyrics promoting self-love and individuality. The album consists of 11 tracks united by infectious hooks, diverse musical styles, and empowering lyrics.

Vocalist/guitarist Rosie Bones stated, “It’s everything you loved about the first record, amplified. We’ve maintained a raw and genuine sound, with enough electronic beats to satisfy our industrial dance enthusiasts and enough heartfelt ballads to captivate our romantics.”

The album, which was written and recorded over a span of five years in various locations such as London, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Texas, draws inspiration from Stax and Motown influences, classic rock ‘n roll, ‘90s electronica, and song-based rock. SOFT embodies a spirited rebellion against the norm. The debut single from the album, “Won’t Settle,” challenges societal expectations to “settle down” at a certain age with its edgy stop-start guitar and featuring Mike Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age.

About Artist:

BONES UK is a rock band from Camden Town, London, consisting of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Rosie Bones, lead guitarist Carmen Vandenberg, and drummer Heavy.

Rosie Bones and Carmen Vandenberg met at the Blues Kitchen in Camden Town, and they were in the all-girl band Fake Club from 2012 to 2014 before forming Bones UK later that year. They caught the attention of musician Jeff Beck early in their career, leading him to ask the band to collaborate on his 2016 album, Loud Hailer, and to perform with him on tour. Since then, Bones UK has relocated to Los Angeles, California.

The band independently released multiple singles before putting out their debut, self-titled album on July 12, 2019, via Sumerian Records. Produced by Filippo Cimatti, the album confronts issues ranging from the “beauty industrial complex” to toxic masculinity and sexism within the music scene. It also includes a cover of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans” after being asked by Howard Stern to record the song for a Bowie tribute album. Loudwire named the album one of the 50 best rock efforts of 2019.
