Dragony is an Austrian power metal band that started in 2007, founded by guitarist Daniel Stockinger and lead vocalist Siegfried Samer. Initially, it began as a studio rock opera project called “The Dragonslayer Project” but soon transformed into a full band. The lineup grew with Andreas Poppernitsch (guitars), Georg Lorenz (keyboards), Frederic Brünner (drums), and Herbert Glos (bass) joining in, making Dragony an established name in the power metal scene.
Their journey started with smaller Austrian gigs but quickly gained momentum as they played alongside well-known acts like Firewind, Paul Di’Anno, Serenity, Axxis, and Sonata Arctica. Their early success came from a passionate fanbase and their ability to bring high energy to live shows.
In October 2023, Dragony completed their first headlining tour in Mexico, marking a major milestone. Later, they toured as a supporting act for Warkings, which helped build their reputation further. In 2024, the band revamped its lineup by adding Matt on guitars and Chris on drums, signaling a fresh start. This new lineup, paired with their signing to the metal label Steamhammer/SPV, shows that the band is more ready than ever to take on new challenges.
Now, the band is set to release their fifth studio album, “Hic Svnt Dracones,” on October 11, 2024. This album follows their 2021 release “Viribus Unitis” and is expected to excite both longtime fans and newcomers with its 11 powerful tracks. The album was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen, known for his work with big names like Amaranthe and Epica.
To promote the album, Dragony recently released a new music video, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. With their evolving lineup and strong support from their new label, Dragony is continuing to push boundaries in the power metal genre, and *Hic Svnt Dracones* is shaping up to be one of their best releases yet.
