Fat Tony, a rapper from Houston, has revealed that he will be releasing an album titled “I Will Make A Baby In This Damn Economy” on August 25 through Carpark Records, produced by Taydex. The album features guest appearances from Paul Wall, B L A C K I E, Cadence Weapon, Harriet Brown, and B.K. Habermehl. Tony stated that he had more creative freedom and flexibility on this project, resulting in a collaborative and familial feel.
The initial preview of the album I Will Make A Baby In This Damn Economy comprises two singles, “Spectacular” and “Don’t Tap In/Contusion (feat. B L A C K I E),” which are placed at opposite ends of the album. The first track, “Spectacular,” is a playful and boastful song with clever rhyming, and it is accompanied by a music video directed by Jimmy Whispers. The second track, “Don’t Tap In/Contusion,” is also self-assured but has a darker and more industrial beat. Tony skillfully navigates the glitchy production and incorporates exciting rhythmic switch-ups.
For his new album I Will Make A Baby In This Damn Economy, Houston rapper Fat Tony teamed up with the Los Angeles producer Taydex. They shared a pair of singles from the album last month, and today they’re back with its closest thing to a title track. “Make A Baby” matches funky bass with a skittering beat that rides the line between West Coast rap and experimental electronics. “I did 23 & Me back in May/ Found out I’m predominantly African in my DNA,” Tony raps. “Since that day, my spirit been tryin’ me/ It wants to impregnate five women and start a dynasty.”
