Finneas Baird O’Connell, also known as Finneas, was born on July 30, 1997, and is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is best known for his work with his younger sister, Billie Eilish, for which he has received numerous accolades. Finneas has won 10 Grammy Awards out of 18 total nominations, including nominations for the Big Four categories. He holds the record as the youngest act to win the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical category. His work with Eilish has earned him awards such as Record of the Year (twice in a row), Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Additionally, he was nominated for Best New Artist for his solo work. His collaborative song “No Time to Die” from the film of the same name won him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and another Grammy. Two years later, their song “What Was I Made For?” also won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year, along with the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, making them the youngest 2-time Academy Award winners ever. Finneas has also collaborated with high-profile artists such as Drake, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato, Halsey, Justin Bieber, Karol G, Girl in Red, Rosalía, Tove Lo, and Tate McRae.
Finneas‘s second studio album, “For Cryin’ Out Loud!”, is set for release on October 4th, 2024, following his 2021 debut, “Optimist.” The lead single of the album is the title track, which was released with a music video. Finneas teased the tracklist and released numerous snippets for the songs “Same Old Story,” “Little Window,” and “Lotus Eater” on Instagram. In late 2021, Finneas was asked about the release date of his second album, to which he replied that it would be in 2022. However, it turned out that it was the deluxe edition of “Optimist,” not his second studio album, that was released in 2022.
The cover art of FINNEAS’ sophomore album, “For Cryin’ Out Loud!”, shows FINNEAS seeming distant while holding a girl’s hand when sitting in a corner. The album’s title track, which features the same cover, delves into the feelings of a push-and-pull relationship, which can affect one’s mental state. The cover gives a visualization of the effect a relationship such as that can have on one’s mentality. This is shown through FINNEAS‘ dissociation of his surroundings. FINNEAS is wearing a black sweater with pants of the same color. Akin to how he is wearing a monochromatic outfit, the girl sitting beside him, who also has red hair, dons a completely light blueish-purple outfit.
