Hinds is a Spanish indie rock band from Madrid, formed in 2011. The group currently consists of Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar), Ana García Perrote (vocals, guitar), Paula Ruiz (bass, backing vocals), and Maria Lázaro (drums). Originally named Deers, the band changed its name to Hinds in 2014 due to a legal threat from the similarly named band The Dears. The new name “Hinds” means “female deers”, and the name change became official on 7 January 2015.
They have released three albums, one compilation LP, and four singles. Their first studio album, “Leave Me Alone,” was released on 8 January 2016, followed by their second studio album, “I Don’t Run,” on 6 April 2018. The band’s third studio album, “The Prettiest Curse,” was released on 5 June 2020. Their fourth studio album, “Viva Hinds,” is scheduled for release on 6 September 2024.
Today, Hinds announced the release of their fourth LP, “VIVA HINDS,” with the lead single “Boom Boom Back,” featuring Beck. The album is also set to feature Fontaines D.C.‘s Grian Chatten and have production from Pete Robertson (Beabadoobee), engineering from Tom Roach, and mixing from Caesar Edmunds (The Killers, Wet Leg). The band recently played 15 showcases at SXSW and is celebrating their return. With the success of their previous single “Coffee,” it’s clear that Cosials and Perrote’s chemistry is at an all-time high. “VIVA HINDS” is set to release on September 6 via Lucky Number.
