HONNE is an English electronic music duo formed in 2014 in Bow, London. The duo consists of James Hatcher as the producer and Andy Clutterbuck as the singer and producer. They released their debut studio album, “Warm on a Cold Night,” on 22 July 2016, followed by their second album, “Love Me/Love Me Not,” on 28 August 2018. Their first mixtape, “No Song Without You,” was released on 3 July 2020. HONNE has achieved gold, platinum, and multiplatinum certifications in multiple countries across the world. Their third album, “Let’s Just Say the World Ended a Week from Now, What Would You Do?,” was released on 22 October 2021.
The duo, now operating independently, has a new album titled “OUCH” set for release later this year. Andy Clutterbuck and James Hatcher are operating out of a new studio space in Deptford, embracing maturity and communal creativity.
“OUCH” is about commitment, fatherhood, the fear of loss, and the power of love in our lives, while also giving HONNE space to experiment. It will be released on September 6th, with the new single “Girl In The Orchestra” leading the way. The song tells a story of youthful love in an adolescent music group and features an overlay of different instruments to mimic the orchestra of the title.
Andy explains, “When I was younger, I joined my school orchestra because a girl I liked played the flute. I didn’t even read music at the time, so I was quite out of my depth. School crushes were always a little hard to navigate and could end up being quite painful. ‘Girl In The Orchestra’ tells this story.”
The animated video for “Girl in the Orchestra” was created by Jenny Jokela, using hand-drawn, DIY qualities to match the themes of the song and emphasize HONNE‘s independence. Jokela shared, “Girl in the Orchestra” is a hand-painted animation using acrylic paint on paper. I feel the painted technique and look matches and adds texture to the warm and funny tone of the love story that is central to the video.”
