Nordic art/electro-pop artist Ionnalee has announced a new album titled “Close Your Eyes,” set to be released on September 13 via TWIMC. The album, created in collaboration with regular partner Claes Björklund, explores the theme of dreaming during dark times and delves into the artist’s personal experience of finding hope, euphoria, and sadness in a disconnected world. Ionnalee reflects on the value of music and its ability to provide solace during challenging times, drawing from her 20 years of experience as an artist.
This upcoming album marks Ionnalee‘s third studio album and her first release since “Be Here Soon” in 2022, released under the name iamamiwhoami. Produced throughout 2023, “Close Your Eyes” is a direct sequel to the third installment of iamamiwhoami’s series, “BLUE,” released in 2014. The lead single, “Innocence of Sound,” is available for listening and will also be released in Swedish under the title “Allting vill rinna ut i sand.”
In addition to “Close Your Eyes,” Ionnalee will release a companion album titled “Blund,” featuring the songs in Swedish. Reflecting on her roots, Ionnalee shared her excitement about singing in her native language, stating, “Singing in my mother tongue gives my artistry a different angle, and that feels really exciting—it’s like exploring a new language!”
To coincide with the album release, Ionnalee has announced a spring US tour, starting on May 17 in Philadelphia and concluding on June 7 in Portland.
