John Legend, a multi-platinum, 12-time Grammy Award-winner, has announced the release of his new album “My Favorite Dream.” The album, featuring sing-alongs and lullabies for children and families, will be available on August 30 via Republic Records: Kids & Family. Produced by singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens, the project includes nine original tracks written by Legend. Additionally, as part of a collaboration with Fisher-Price, the album will have three bonus tracks featuring covers of songs from their popular toys. To mark the announcement, Legend has shared the lead single from the album titled “L-O-V-E.”

Breaking precedence with “L-O-V-E” and the album’s other original songs, Legend wrote all of them at home on the family piano. He explained, “I usually write most of my albums at the studio, but I wanted to write this album with my family around.”

Legend co-executive produced “My Favorite Dream” with singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens, who also served as the project’s producer. In creating the album, Legend aimed for the first half to mirror the “catchy and fun” rhythm and energy of his children’s music classes, where they sing along and play percussive instruments. The latter half was designed to exude a more calming, ready-for-bed vibe.

About Artist:

John Roger Stephens, born December 28, 1978, and professionally known as John Legend, is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, and actor. He started his career working behind the scenes, playing piano on Lauryn Hill’s “Everything Is Everything” and providing uncredited backup vocals on Jay-Z’s “Encore” and Alicia Keys’ “You Don’t Know My Name.” Legend was the first artist signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label, where he released his debut album, *Get Lifted* (2004). The album hit the top ten on the Billboard 200, went double platinum, and featured his breakout hit, “Ordinary People.”

At the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, Legend won three Grammys from eight nominations: Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Ordinary People,” Best R&B Album for *Get Lifted*, and Best New Artist. The single “So High,” remixed with Lauryn Hill, was also nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. His second album, *Once Again* (2006), was a success with the lead single “Save Room.” His third album, *Evolver* (2008), explored different genres, and its funk-inspired single “Green Light” (featuring André 3000) reached the top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went double platinum. In the same year, Legend released a live album, *John Legend: Live from Philadelphia* (2008), and followed it up with a collaborative album, *Wake Up!* (2010), with the Roots.
