Jorja Alice Smith, born on June 11, 1997, is a talented English R&B singer-songwriter hailing from Walsall, West Midlands. She is widely recognized by her stage name, Jorja Smith.
Growing up with a Jamaican father and an English mother, Smith was exposed to a diverse range of music genres including reggae, punk, hip-hop, and R&B.
She started writing songs at a young age of 11 and credits Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Adele, Sade, Nina Simone, and the Streets as her major musical influences. As a teenager, she was also deeply fascinated by Amy Winehouse and her debut album Frank, which she admits to being obsessed with. Smith draws inspiration from Amy’s authentic approach to songwriting and has begun including social issues in her own music.
