Kim Petras released “Something About U” off her new album ‘Problématique.’
Kim Petras had planned to release her third studio album and major-label debut, “Problématique,” in the summer of 2022. However, the album was canceled in favor of her upcoming album “Feed the Beast.” In early September 2023, Petras hinted that “Problématique” could be released on the 18th, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet.
Kim Petras, currently based in LA, is a German-born singer and songwriter. She first gained attention in 2006, at the age of 13, for discussing her gender transition and promoting transgender rights in Germany. At 16, Petras was the youngest known woman to undergo gender reassignment surgery.
Between 2008 and 2011, she released a few songs online before moving to LA in 2013 to work with producers such as The Stereotypes and Aaron Joseph. After working on music for herself and others for several years, Petras partnered with veteran songwriter and producer Dr. Luke, and signed to his Prescription Songs publishing company.
In August 2017, Petras released “I Don’t Want It At All,” and subsequently released other singles over the next two years. She released a Halloween-themed EP, TURN OFF THE LIGHT, VOL. 1 in October 2018, followed by a sequel EP the following year.
Her Clarity project, which was released in 2019, was preceded by the release of several singles. In an interview with Interview Mag in 2020, Petras referred to her untitled upcoming project as her “debut album.” It is expected to be released in 2021, and will include her 2020 single, “Malibu.”
