Since releasing “Bell Bottom Country” in 2022, the Louisiana-born singer Lainey Wilson has been incredibly successful. She is selling out arenas, winning numerous awards, and has even launched her line with Wrangler, making her country music’s newest queen.

This success is the result of a long and challenging journey for the singer, who moved to Nashville over a decade ago with nothing but a dream. She has been envisioning this level of country music success since she wrote her first song at 9 years old. She worked hard behind the scenes in songwriter rooms and at local gigs during her early years in Nashville. She independently released her self-titled debut record in 2014, followed by “Tougher” in 2016, all the while learning to navigate Nashville’s music scene and honing her voice as a songwriter.

Despite her growing popularity, she has worked hard to stay grounded amidst personal challenges, such as her father’s health issues and a relationship with former NFL quarterback Devlin Hodges. Finding solace in her music, she created her fifth album, “Whirlwind,” which reflects her journey to navigate chaos and find peace. The album includes love songs like “Counting Chickens” and “4x4xU,” which celebrate finding her life partner, as well as tracks like “Hang Tight Honey” and “Good Horses,” which emphasize the importance of love amidst fame. Notably, the album includes the song “Ring Finger,” blending hip-hop, rock, and country, showcasing her evolving musical style.

Working with producer Jay Joyce, Wilson has established a fresh yet timeless sound. The album is a testament to her resilience and her commitment to staying true to her country roots while embracing her success.

About Artist:

Lainey Wilson grew up in the 250-person village of Baskin, Louisiana. Her mother, Michelle, was a teacher, and her father, Brian, was a farmer. Janna is her sister as well. She developed an early interest in music. Buck Owens and Glen Campbell’s vintage country music was a favorite among her family. “Country music was more than just music to me and my family.” “We were those songs’ lyrics coming to life,” she told The Advocate.

She was drawn to the music when she saw the Grand Ole Opry perform when she was nine years old. “I just remember looking up there, being like, ‘Man, I wanna do that’,” she said. After learning a few chords from her father, Wilson began creating songs by the time she was a preteen. She published an extended play (EP) called Country Girls Rule on Myspace in 2006. In high school, Wilson got a job as Hannah Montana’s impersonator. She performed as Hannah Montana at birthday parties, fairs, and festivals around Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. She even once entertained young cancer patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She frequently booked her own concerts.
