Lil Tecca‘s upcoming album, “PLAN A,” will be his fourth studio album following the release of “TEC” in September 2023. Tecca hinted at the new project shortly after dropping “TEC,” mentioning that new music was already in the works on October 11, 2023.
In an interview with Complex, Tecca revealed that he initially considered naming his last album “Plan A” instead of “TEC.” He expressed that the title might still be used for a future project. On March 4, 2024, Tecca confirmed via an Instagram story that the new album would indeed be called “Plan A.”
A month later, on April 8, 2024, Tecca announced on Twitter that he planned to release two singles simultaneously – “number 2” and “never last.” He then revealed that the release date for the two tracks would be May 3, 2024. The tracks were accompanied by a joint music video directed by jordiedotcom.
On August 2, 2024, Tecca announced the release of the third promotional single, “Taste,” which dropped on August 9, 2024. Shortly after, on August 13, 2024, Tecca hinted at the release of his highly-anticipated track, “BAD TIME,” which eventually came out on August 30, 2024, as the fourth promotional single.
The 22-year-old also addressed the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s use of his personal photo from the cover art of his hit “Ransom” for a recruitment flyer.
“That’s real,” he said. “I saw that on Twitter and was like, ‘What’s going on right now? They got in contact with the people responsible and he’s like, ‘Sorry, we used the picture by accident.’ He used super big words. Basically, what he was saying is, ‘We didn’t know this was an artist.’ My thing is, that picture doesn’t exist without ‘Ransom.’”
“Ransom” was Tecca’s breakout smash in May 2019 when he was just 16 years old. It eventually reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 when it peaked at No. 4. The track is currently 8x-platinum.
“That was my first time hopping on a beat that was not from YouTube,” Lil Tecca revealed. “That was my first time ever taking edibles in the studio. I had edibles and a drink from Starbucks.”
Juice WRLD eventually hopped on the official remix, and Tecca reflected on being amazed watching the late rapper at work in the studio.
“That right there was one of the craziest moments ever,” he said. “I remember when I first met him, he was like, ‘Ay bro, this flow hard.’ That was my first time meeting someone that I saw online going crazy at the time and actually giving me an opinion on my music… It really meant a lot, bro.”

About Artist:
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, known professionally as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer. He gained fame with his 2019 single “Ransom,” which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. This was followed by the release of his debut mixtape “We Love You Tecca” in the same year, which also peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. His debut studio album, “Virgo World,” released in 2020, reached number ten on the Billboard 200. His second and third albums, “We Love You Tecca 2” (2021) and “Tec” (2023), also achieved similar chart positions. Some of his popular singles include “Love Me,” “Did It Again,” “Never Left,” and “500lbs,” the latter two of which received platinum certifications from the RIAA.
Tecca‘s interest in music started at a young age, rapping with friends on his Xbox mic and creating diss tracks, some of which were uploaded to SoundCloud. His first track to gain popularity, “Tectri,” was a collaboration with his friend Lil Gummybear and was released in early 2017. His career took off with “Ransom,” originally uploaded on Cole Bennett’s Lyrical Lemonade YouTube channel in May 2019, reaching over 1 billion plays on Spotify and over 400 million views on YouTube.
