Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., born September 27, 1982, is known professionally as Lil Wayne, an American rapper. He is considered one of the most influential hip-hop artists of his generation and widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time. Lil Wayne was born and raised in New Orleans and was discovered by hometown rapper Birdman in 1993. At the age of eleven, he signed with Birdman’s record label, Cash Money Records. Over the years, he became the flagship artist of the label until his departure in June 2018.

In 1994, Lil Wayne was placed in a duo with Cash Money labelmate B.G., known collectively as the B.G.’z. They released an album called “True Story” that year, with Lil Wayne, known as Baby D at the time, appearing on three tracks. Subsequently, Lil Wayne and B.G. formed the Southern hip-hop group Hot Boys with labelmates Juvenile and Turk in 1997. The group gained mainstream success after the release of their second album, “Guerrilla Warfare,” and their hit single, “Bling Bling.” The Hot Boys briefly disbanded following the album due to members parting ways with the label, although one further album, “Let ‘Em Burn,” was released in 2003.

Lil Wayne recently released an expanded deluxe edition of his album ‘Tha Carter V’, which now includes 33 songs. This deluxe edition features seven new, unreleased tracks and three previously released tracks, including collaborations with artists such as Post Malone, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and Raekwon.

The ‘Tha Carter’ series began in 2004, and ‘Tha Carter V’ was initially expected to be released in 2014 but was delayed for four years before finally arriving in 2018. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Lil Wayne’s fourth No. 1 album. The deluxe edition comes after the release of Lil Wayne‘s most recent album, ‘Funeral,’ and the re-release of the ‘Free Weezy Album’ and ‘No Ceilings’ mixtape on streaming platforms.
