Little Big Town is an American country music vocal group from Homewood, Alabama. The group was founded in 1998 and has retained the same four members since its inception: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman (née Roads), Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. Their musical style heavily relies on four-part vocal harmonies, with all four members taking turns as lead vocalists. Fairchild and Westbrook have been married to each other since 2006.
After a recording deal with the Mercury Nashville Records label, which did not produce any singles or albums, Little Big Town released their self-titled debut on Monument Records in 2002. The album produced two minor country chart singles before the group left the label. In 2005, the group signed to Equity Music Group, an independent record label owned by Clint Black. Their second album, The Road to Here, was released that year and received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A Place to Land, their third album, was released via Equity, then re-released via Capitol Nashville after Equity closed in 2008. Little Big Town has released six more albums for Capitol, four of which have reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart: The Reason Why (2010), Tornado (2012), Pain Killer (2014), The Breaker (2017), Nightfall (2020) and Mr. Sun (2022).
Little Big Town is set to release their first-ever Christmas album, The Christmas Record, on October 4 via Capitol Records Nashville, just in time for the holiday season. This marks a year of firsts for Little Big Town, as they recently kicked off their 25th-anniversary celebration with their first-ever Greatest Hits album. The album features 12 tracks that span the group’s discography and includes fresh collaborations with Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, and Sugarland.
In addition to their album releases, Little Big Town will embark on the Take Me Home Tour, starting on October 24 in Greenville, South Carolina, with special guest Sugarland. The tour includes 18 stops at arenas nationwide. Furthermore, the band will be featured in a special holiday event, “Little Big Town’s Christmas at The Opry,” a 2-hour holiday spectacular on NBC, which will include performances from the group and special guests.
