Ultra 85 serves as Logic’s long-awaited ninth studio album, following up February 2023’s College Park and the long-awaited continuation of his May 2017 studio album, Everybody.
During an interview with HardKnockTV in March 2018, Logic gave insight into the feel of Ultra 85 by stating that it would be “like James Brown, Red Hot Chili Peppers kind of stuff. Like super live, no samples on the whole thing, with Travis Barker on the drums for the entire album.”
Logic has announced a new project tentatively titled “Ultra 85 2024,” which seems to be related to his previous album “No Pressure.” Despite previously announcing “No Pressure” as his final album, it seems that Logic is continuing with new music. “Ultra 85” was originally teased as his last album back in 2017, but he clarified that he plans to continue creating music in various forms beyond this project.
This album was revealed in the 44-page booklet that came with the limited edition of Everybody. In the booklet, there was a hidden message that stated: “For the real fans reading this hidden message, my next album will be called Ultra 85, and it will be the conclusion to this saga.”
Logic also stated in an interview with Genius that this will not only be the end of this saga, but it will be the last album he ever creates.
In a mid-April 2018 interview with Big Boy TV, Logic admitted that Ultra 85 will not be his last album and that he was “just messing with everybody.” He also mentioned in a since-deleted tweet on July 17, 2018, that he has 80 unreleased songs and 7 projects ready to go.
With the release of Logic’s July 2020 album No Pressure, within an interview with HardKnockTV, he said that with his retirement from making music, he isn’t planning on releasing Ultra 85 at all. However, in the No Pressure interview with HardKnockTV, he mentioned that he will try to still conclude the storyline about Thomas and Kai for his fans in some other way.
