Mura Masa has announced the release of a new album, Curve 1, on August 23 through his own record label, Pond Recordings. The album will include several previously shared tracks such as ‘We Are Making Out’ featuring yeule, ‘rise/gimme’, ‘Whenever I Want’, ‘Drugs’ featuring Daniela Lalita, and ‘still’. In a press release introducing the album, Mura Masa described Curve 1 as a representation of his personal attitude of ignoring everything in the attention economy and focusing only on the meaningful and vital aspects of life. He emphasized that this album is his first independent offering through his own record label and wanted it to be free from narrative and impressionistic. He expressed the idea that music should create its own meaning in the lives of the listeners without being overly explained by the artist.
