Before I Disappear Again, previously titled KnowCap, is expected to be Mobile, Alabama native NoCap’s sophomore full-length studio album. It follows his December 2022 mixtape, The Main Bird, and his April 2022 debut studio album, Mr. Crawford.

The album was first teased in fall 2022 when NoCap used “#KnowCap” in the caption of several of his social media posts, aiming to get it trending on Twitter. On August 28, 2022, he shared an update about the album on Twitter, saying, “KnowCap” is going to be my best work, and I don’t usually brag about my music, but this album is something else!

On September 2, 2022, he announced that the tracklist was officially complete. However, after remaining silent about the album for months, in a tweet announcing The Main Bird, Cap mentioned that after the release of the mixtape, he would officially announce the album:

“I have an EP on the way, consisting of about 7 songs for the ladies, since I usually don’t release those types of songs. After that, I will drop KnowCap, which will have around 14 songs. I’ll share the release date soon.”

Throughout 2023, Cap stayed quiet but dropped several loose singles, including “Deadicated,” “Head Doctor,” “Cuban Links & Drug Habits,” and “How You Felt.” On December 23, 2023, he shared a hidden tracklist with twenty-three songs on Instagram and asked if the project was too long.

The album, along with its cover art and release date, was officially announced on March 24, 2024, after Cap shared the news on Instagram. Initially scheduled for release on April 16, it had to be postponed for unknown reasons. Nevertheless, the official tracklist for the album was released on the same day. Two months later, on June 8, NoCap dropped the single “Baby Drake” and finally announced the new release date for the project as August 16.
