Porridge Radio is a British indie rock band formed in Brighton in 2015. The band is fronted by vocalist, songwriter, and lead guitarist Dana Margolin, with other members including keyboardist Georgie Stott and drummer Sam Yardley, and formerly bassist Maddie Ryall. The Guardian listed them among their top 40 new artists of 2018 and described their music as ‘slacker indie’.
Porridge Radio is set to release their new album ‘Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me’ on October 18th. This will be their fourth studio album, following the success of ‘Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder To The Sky’. The album is described as more personal and is influenced by Dana Margolin’s experiences with burnout, disillusionment with the music industry, heartbreak, and the persistent draw of creativity.
Dana Margolin approached each song on the album as a poem, aiming for a more personal and desperate portrayal of love. She describes the album as being about losing her sense of self in a previous relationship and the lingering pain and insecurity that affected a new relationship.
The album consists of 11 songs and was produced by Dom Monks. The lead single, ‘Sick of The Blues’, is accompanied by a performance clip shot at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Dana describes the song as being about heartbreak and reclaiming joy, emphasizing the importance of finding happiness within oneself and not relying on others, even when hurt. She expresses the desire to let go of the pain, have fun, and rediscover the positivity in life.
