Rodarius Marcell Green, also known as Rod Wave, was born on August 27, 1998, in Saint Petersburg, Florida. His parents divorced during his elementary school years, and his father went to jail. Due to financial struggles, Rod turned to the streets to make a living, which led to involvement in illegal activities. Despite this, he attended Lakewood Elementary School and was part of the All-State Elementary Chorus in 2009 and 2010. He continued performing at Lakewood High School.
On September 4, 2024, Rod Wave announced his 2024 Last Lap Tour in the United States on Instagram. The tour, supported by Moneybagg Yo, Toosii, Lil Poppa, Dess Dior, and Eelmatic, will have thirty-six stops and shares the name of his anticipated sixth studio album. On September 13, he released the lead single “Passport Junkie” from the album.
