Over the weekend, Sexyy Red released a new single titled “Shake Yo Dreads,” dedicated to those who wear natural hairstyles.
The track’s production, courtesy of Kat Lightning and AyoCBass, creates a riotous atmosphere similar to the hip hop blog era popularized by artists like Waka Flocka Flame.
St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red released the album “Hood Hottest Princess” a few months ago which includes hit tracks like “Pound Town” and “SkeeYee.” Recently, she featured in tracks with Lil Durk and Moneybagg Yo. Her new single “No Panties,” produced by Issa Rae’s music production company Raedio, is on the soundtrack for the HBO show Rap Sh!t.
The show is co-executive produced by City Girls and is a fictionalized sitcom version of their story. It follows two Miami women who use rap to escape their lives of credit card fraud and OnlyFans sex work. The second season of the show is set to release in November, with a new compilation album titled “Rap Sh!t: The Mixtape.”
The new single “Shake Yo Dreads” by Sexyy Red was also released yesterday along with a music video. Although it is not associated with any known HBO show, the track has a fun and reckless vibe. The thunderous chanting in the song is reminiscent of Waka Flocka Flame’s prime era.
