Shabazz Palaces‘ “Robed in Rareness” Album Download Leak MP3 ZIP Files

Shabazz Palaces, a project by Ishmael Butler, has announced the release of a new mini-album called Robed in Rareness.

The seven-song album is the first in a series and will be released via Sub Pop on October 27. It is their first release since The Don of Diamond Dreams in 2020. The album collaborates with artists such as Royce The Choice, Porter Ray, O Finess, Geechi Suede, and Butler’s son, Lil Tracy.

The album was produced by Shabazz Palaces, mixed by Erik Blood, and engineered by Ishmael Butler and Blood at Studio4 West in Venice, California, with mastering by Warren Defever at Third Man Mastering.

Shabazz Palaces is known for its innovative approach to hip-hop. Ishmael Butler, the vocalist and producer, has been pushing the boundaries of the genre for decades. Robed In Rareness pays homage to the past, embraces the present, and looks towards the future.

However, some have criticized the album for being too stripped-down and lacking substance. Some tracks, such as “Scarface Mace” and “Hustle Crossers,” are meandering and bland.

One of the standout tracks is “Binoculars,” a collaboration between Butler and Royce the Choice. The song features rapid-fire flexes and clever wordplay. However, the album’s other tracks have been criticized for their weak songwriting and lack of ambition. “P Kicking G” is a prime example, with an unfunny refrain and lazy AABB rhyme scheme.

Despite featuring Lil Tracy, one of Butler’s sons, on the track “Woke Up in a Dream,” the album still falls short of expectations. The vocals are distorted, and the twinkling synth keys and gossamer glissandos arrangement are careless. The album is short, running only 24 minutes, but the songs are so vaporous that it’s difficult to remember them.
