Ab-Soul is set to release a new mixtape titled “Soul Burger” on November 8. This project is a tribute to his late friend, DoeBurger, who passed away in December 2021. It will feature his recent single “Squeeze 1st 2” as well as a new track called “All That,” which includes contributions from Jason Martin (formerly known as Problem) and Thirsty P. The track “All That” will also have a new video directed by Carlos Acosta, adding a visual element to the release.
This mixtape follows Ab-Soul‘s 2022 album “Herbert” and his participation in recent Black Hippy reunions with Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock, notably at Lamar’s Pop Out concert in Inglewood. Ab-Soul has been involved in several collaborations recently, including the Jay Rock song “Blowfly” and the “Not Like Us” video, further highlighting his strong connection to his TDE roots.
An exciting addition to “Soul Burger” is the single “Crazier,” featuring Atlanta rapper JID, who is known for his dynamic flow often compared to Kendrick Lamar’s style. Produced by Kal Banx, this track delivers a haunting and reflective vibe, showcasing the chemistry between Ab-Soul and JID as they delve into deep lyrical themes, blending intensity with introspection. This mixtape promises to be both a powerful tribute and a testament to Ab-Soul’s unique place in hip-hop.
