Tory Lanez has released the video for his song “Mama Told Me.” The track was produced by Ryan Hemsworth, Tory Lanez, and Play Picasso and was originally featured on Lanez’s October 2014 mixtape Lost Cause. The cinematic video depicts Tory and his partner attempting to rob a convenience store. However, their plan goes awry when one of them is shot during the holdup, leading to a frantic escape from the scene. As the police pursue them, Lanez and his accomplice engage in a high-speed getaway with gunfire. The visually stunning video was directed by Christian Breslauer and Tory Lanez.

Despite being incarcerated, Tory Lanez continues to stay relevant in the music industry. He recently paid tribute to the legendary rapper Trina while announcing the re-release of his mixtape. Lanez shared an inspirational story on Instagram about how Trina supported him early in his career. He revealed that he was struggling financially around a decade ago, sleeping in his ex-girlfriend’s car and on his manager’s couch. Trina recognized the potential in his song “Godfather”. She provided $5,000 to help him shoot a video for the track, which ultimately led to his first major record deal with Interscope Records. Lanez expressed his gratitude for Trina’s belief in him, which helped him refine his music and image and rise to fame.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his mixtape, Lanez is re-releasing “Lost Cause” on October 1, and he hinted at more re-releases in the future, stating,

“This will be the first of many classic mixtapes of mine that I will officially release on DSPs now that I am INDEPENDENT!!!”
