Legendary Atlanta producer Southside has returned with “BREAK THE SILENCE,” his debut solo album and first solo project since 2018’s “Trap Ye.” A member of 808 Mafia, Southside used to go by Young Sizzle when he rapped more, and he’s revisiting that side of his artistry in this latest release. A driving force from Atlanta’s hip-hop scene in the 2010s, Southside’s new project echoes the styles of artists he has influenced, such as Lil Baby, Migos, and Future. “BREAK THE SILENCE” seamlessly merges into the modern Atlanta hip-hop landscape, where the city continues to thrive partly due to the groundwork laid by 808 Mafia and Southside.
The album features additional production from Akachi, TM88, and others, although many of the beats are primarily crafted by Southside himself. At times, the music draws inspiration from other prominent Atlanta producers, most notably Pi’erre Bourne, whose style helped propel Playboi Carti to mainstream recognition. Southside also showcases his confidence on the mic, drawing clear inspiration from Future. This significant release is being distributed by the renowned music label Epic Records, providing a substantial endorsement for the 35-year-old artist. Earlier this year, Southside made headlines for an altercation at the Cannes Film Festival involving Travis Scott, which was quickly resolved. Now, Southside is back in the spotlight for the very thing he excels at: creating music.

About Artist:
Joshua Howard Luellen (born February 2, 1989), better known as Southside (or Sizzle), is an American record producer, rapper, and songwriter. Based in Atlanta, he is known in the music industry for his aggressive, trap-infused producing work for well-known hip-hop acts. In 2010, Luellen signed as an in-house talent to Brick Squad Monopoly, an offshoot of Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, following his affiliation with neighborhood rapper Waka Flocka Flame. Luellen and labelmate Lex Luger formed the production company 808 Mafia the same year, and they have been credited with commercially successful releases for the rest of the decade.
As a lead artist, Luellen signed with Epic Records and released Swervo (2018), a collaborative album with G Herbo that reached number 15 on the Billboard 200. His 2022 single “Hold That Heat” (with Future featuring Travis Scott) debuted at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite not appearing on either, he has released multiple mixtapes as a recording artist.
