Sweet Pill‘s “Sympathy” Leak Download MP3

The Philadelphia-based emo band Sweet Pill is set to release their new four-song EP called Starchild on March 15 via Hopeless Records.

They have already shared three tracks from the EP, including “Sympathy,” which shows a softer and more comfortable side of Sweet Pill compared to their usual hard-charging anthems “Starchild” and “Chewed Up.” Lead guitarist Jayce Williams describes the track as having clean, twinkly, American Football vibes with lyrics that still cut like a knife.

The band released their debut album, Where The Heart Is, last year, and they’ve signed to Hopeless Records for their next one. Sweet Pill’s sound has evolved, and they’re excited to showcase their dynamics with this new EP.

Sweet Pill is also going on a headlining North American tour this spring with direct support from Equipment on all dates, plus additional support from Taking Meds, Have A Good Season, Zeta, Great Time, and Broke Body, varying by date. They are also heading over to the UK for the first time ever for Outbreak Fest, with more dates to be announced.

Sweet Pill is an emo band from Philadelphia, founded in 2019. The band consists of Zayna Youssef on vocals, Jayce Williams and Sean McCall on guitar, Ryan Cullen on bass, and Chris Kearney on drums.

Their music is packed with rightful fury, often bringing in unique rhythms layered below soft-spoken vocals to the genre. At other moments, their music is riddled with heavy distortion and ear-worm melodies. The echoey quality of vocals and electric guitar on “Cut” is just one example of their rad production strategies.

Sweet Pill formed when Youssef was attending Rowan University and looking to get more involved in the music scene. They released their debut single “Doubt” in March 2019, followed by their first EP, Lost In It, a month later.

In March 2022, the group announced their upcoming debut album while releasing its first single, “Blood”. They released a second single from the album, “High Hopes”, in April 2022. The third single from the album, “Diamond Eyes”, was released a few weeks prior to the album’s release. The album, Where the Heart Is, was released on May 25, 2022.

Sweet Pill opened for post-hardcore band La Dispute on their US and Canada tour between September and October 2022.

On September 27, 2023, Sweet Pill signed to Hopeless Records and released a new single titled “Starchild.”
