Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley has consistently released hard-hitting music over the past few years, and his tracks have been racking up impressive numbers on YouTube. In his latest single “Swear To God,” Tee Grizzley delivers powerful verses over a stormy beat produced by Wheezy. Future contributes a verse and a hypnotic hook, playing a prominent role in the song. Notably, Future’s line “fuck yo’ album” is featured in the chorus of the track.
Tee Grizzley and Future are set to release their new track “Swear To God” on Friday. The song opens with the lyrics: “Fuck your album, shit ain’t slapping like my mixtape.” Tee Grizzley teased the track on Thursday with a cryptic tweet containing the aggressive opening line, leading to speculation that it could be a veiled shot at Gunna, whose album “One of Wun” was also scheduled for release on the same day. Some of Gunna’s subsequent social media posts were interpreted as potential responses. In another part of the song, Tee Grizzley asserts: “We move like the mob (We on that), that pressure get applied (At all times)/Nigga play, he dyin’ (What else), I swear to God (on me).” The accompanying video features the duo rapping behind a jewelry store counter, riding off in a Maybach, and other lavish scenes. Future also hinted on Twitter that “Mixtape Pluto” would make a return on “May Tenth.”
This upcoming mixtape would be Future’s first since “Wrld on Drugs” with Juice Wrld in 2018 and his first solo tape since 2016’s “Purple Reign.” The recent months have been eventful for the rap genre. Future ignited a rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake with his single “Like That,” in which Lamar takes aim at Drake and his “First Person Shooter” collaborator J. Cole. Future, also known as Pluto, is considered to be among a group of artists, including Rick Ross and The Weeknd, who used their last two albums to air out grievances specifically with Drake. Drake seemed particularly upset with Future’s involvement in the conflict: “Pluto shit make me sick to my stomach, we ain’t never really been through it,” he rapped in one of his diss tracks, “Family Matters.” Fans speculate that the rap feud will continue with the release of Future’s upcoming mixtape. Future’s last solo album was “I Never Liked You” in 2022, featuring the Grammy-winning hit “Wait For U” with Tems and Drake.
