Thomas Rhett, who has been married to Lauren for nearly 12 years and has four children with her, recently shared with Billboard that his two oldest daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James, are starting to develop their own musical preferences. He mentioned that they enjoy a variety of music, from hip-hop to country, and have been influencing his own music by providing feedback on his demos. Thomas Rhett also discussed the diverse sounds on his new album, ranging from ’90s country to pop and soul. He revealed that “Don’t Wanna Dance,” a song on the album that takes inspiration from Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” was a unique challenge for him as a songwriter. The album was produced by Dann Huff and Julian Bunetta and was recorded at Blackbird Studio and Bunetta’s home in Nashville.
Thomas Rhett drew inspiration for the album’s songs from a wide range of artists, including Steely Dan, the Oak Ridge Boys, and The Rolling Stones. Many of the songs on the album reflect his love story with his wife, maintaining a romantic and upbeat tone. For example, “Church” pays tribute to their high school love story through references to Eric Church’s music, and Thomas Rhett even made changes to the song’s final chorus to better reflect their own experiences. The album includes a variety of tracks, from rhythm-driven tunes like “Fool” to laid-back songs like “Overdrive,” all the way to tender ballads such as “I Could Spend Forever Loving You.”
