Tinashe announced on Instagram on June 21 that she will release her upcoming album, Quantum Baby, on August 16. This album is the second part of a trilogy project that began with 2023’s BB/ANG3L.

On the same day as her announcement, her new music video for “Getting No Sleep” was released.

Tinashe’s single “Nasty” released in April has been very successful. It’s her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2014. The song has also reached the top of the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart and remains at No. 1 on the Apple iTunes R&B and Soul Songs chart.

According to Tinashe, Quantum Baby is about letting the public get to know her “on a deeper level.”

In her words, “It’s about exploring who I am as a person and who I am as an artist. I’ve never been one to be put into a box, so the name Quantum Baby encompasses all the different parts that make up who I am as a creative.”

Tinashe, who is an independent artist, emphasized the importance of maintaining control over her music, saying, “As women, we’re constantly fighting to maintain our power, especially when it comes to business and how we’re both seen and how we present ourselves. I think it’s really important to be able to be in charge of your own art and to be in charge of your own business.”

She also expressed her desire to explore different areas of entertainment, stating, “I always love to challenge myself so something unexpected would be great. I don’t want to just play a singer or someone similar to myself. I’d like to play something that feels outside of my comfort zone. Maybe like an adventure mystery or something where I can get real cerebral or something, maybe there’s even a fight scene.”
